ARTIST STATEMENT

I find inspiration from my own life; my experiences, my memories, my dreams. The form of my organic vessels, for example, is inspired by a childhood memory of the large candelabras on my grandmother’s dining room table around which my family gathered. My work is an expression of how I understand the world – my personal, theoretical and technical knowledge. I hand build my pieces using different techniques such as coiling, pinching and slab building. I generally use stoneware and I prefer to glaze them with neutral tones, often in shades of white to emphasize the form beneath.
